APPLICATION FEE

All applications require a $30 nonrefundable application fee. AGB cannot process your adoption application until your fee has been received.

After you submit the form below, a link to pay your fee by credit card will be provided, or a $30 check can be mailed to Adopt a Golden Birmingham, PO Box 361753, Birmingham, AL 35236.

You must be 24 years of age to complete an application. Once your application and fee have been received, an adoption volunteer will contact you to discuss your application.Thank you for your interest in Adopt A Golden Birmingham. We look forward to speaking with you!

ADOPTION FEES ARE AS FOLLOWS AND ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

1-4 years = $500
5-8 years = $400
9 years and older = $250
Golden Doodles - $700 (all ages)
Turkey Dogs = $800
All dogs 10 years of age or older can be adopted by senior citizens (people 65 years old +) at no charge. However, a donation would be greatly appreciated.

Adopt A Golden Birmingham, Inc. requires a fenced in yard for all homes with children under 6 years old. Invisible fencing is acceptable for some dogs and not for others. The Adopt A Golden Birmingham Board of Directors reserves the right to decline placement of a dog who is not a good candidate for an invisible fence into a home with such fencing. The only acceptable invisible fencing is the Invisible Fence brand by Pet Safe - http://www.invisiblefence.com and Dog Watch Hidden Fence brand - http://www.dogwatch.com. In addition, the Adopt A Golden Birmingham Board of Directors reserves the right to require standard fencing for certain dogs in the program (puppy mill dogs, strays for example), regardless of whether there are children in the home or not.

Adopted Goldens must wear a collar and ID tags (including an Adopt A Golden Birmingham tag) at all times. Retractable leashes are prohibited for Adopt A Golden dogs. These leashes have proven dangerous to humans and dogs.

In most cases, any applicant not meeting fencing and child age restrictions will be unable to adopt a Golden from Adopt A Golden Birmingham, Inc. However, we realize that occasionally there are exceptional circumstances. For those cases, experienced dog owners are invited to request an exemption by submitting a detailed letter describing their circumstances. In order to be considered for exemption, a letter of recommendation from a veterinarian detailing the care of any current or previous pets must also be submitted.
