Salem
March 10, 2023 – Salem is now Tux, and he is living his best life in Texas. “We’d like to thank the entire team at Adopt a Golden Birmingham. When we first saw the posting on your website of Salem (now called Tux) we looked at each other and said he’s the one. Of course, there’s always that moment of uncertainty. For us, residing in Houston Texas and knowing that Tux was a 10-hour drive (one way), we wanted to be certain. After our phone interview and learning more about Tux, we were thrilled to be selected as Tux new humans. A couple of weeks later, we made the drive from Houston to Birmingham. When we arrived at Jamie’s (Tux’s foster mom’s house ), we instantly knew the trip was worthwhile! The 10-hour commute back to Texas gave us additional bonding time. However, it was when we arrived at our home and opened the door for the first time that we knew we would be together forever. Tux ran in before us and took ownership of the home as though he had been living here his entire life. Our life now consists of toys all around the house (the loud squeaky ones are his favorite), lots of tummy rubs all day long, window chases for the neighborhood cats and Amazon delivery guys and lots of play time. Our biggest surprise is that he sleeps like a log…he’s the last one up in the mornings and the first to go to bed. Tux, Yolonda and I couldn’t be more pleased with each other and we are looking forward to many, many years together and plenty of adventures to come. Thanks again to all those that made this a reality for us. May others be as blessed as we have been through the efforts of Adopt a Golden Birmingham Rescue. Thank you, thank you, thank you for ALL you do!” Thanks also to Mickalyn and Tim for helping foster.

My name is Salem, and as you can see, I am an extremely handsome boy. I am half Golden Retriever and half Border Collie. I am 2 years old and weigh 65 lbs. I am energetic and like playing in a nice, big, fenced yard. I have been around kids in the past. I can get a little anxious with other dogs, so I could be an only dog or with an experienced owner and just the right canine sibling. I have been through doggy training and know a lot of commands. I am house and crate trained. If you are interested in adding a handsome black beauty to your family, submit an application and ask to meet sweet Salem.
