Opie
January 6, 2023 – When Opie came to AGB from a shelter, he showed signs of extreme neglect and he was deaf. Sadly, he was not the kind of dog that people are eager to adopt. He was in fairly good health for a 10 year old, but was extremely shy and withdrawn. Then a former AGB adopter heard about him. After meeting Opie, she and her husband decided to adopt him. Opie, now Mr. Grinch, is slowly warming up to his new family. Everyday he also goes to work at his new mom’s vet clinic. She said that Mr. Grinch is still shy but they just keep loving on him. Thanks to Suzanne and Lisa for fostering this sweet boy.
Original Adoption Post
Hi everyone. My name is Opie. I’m a sweet fella about 10 years old and I don’t mind telling you I have not had an easy life. I was out on my own stray for a long time. Finally I got picked up by animal control. They contact AGB because they could tell I needed more love and care than they could give me to make sure I got adopted by just the right people. I have not eaten well in quite some time so I only weigh about 40 lbs. My fur was very dirty and matted, so AGB had to shave me, but they tell me they will give me good nutritious food and with a little time, it will grow back better than ever. I am struggling with arthritis and my ears were badly infected and hurting something awful, but the doctors here are taking great care of me and the medicine is already helping me. I am a sweet natured boy and I just want to be loved and have a family I can call my very own. I know I might not be much to look at right now, but if you can look beyond this kind of worn and weary exterior into my eyes and into my heart, I hope you will see the loving soul I am inside. If you want to share your heart and home with the most loving and grateful friend you will ever have, please let AGB know you want to meet me, Opie. PS…If you can make a donation to help with y medical bills, that would be swell. Just click “more” to see how much I need and to donate.
