Pete

October 15, 2023 – Pete had a rough start when he came to Adopt A Golden. He desperately needed time to decompress from the trauma he experienced in his previous life. He especially has been averse to visits to the vet.  After being placed in several foster homes where he received much love, he found an adopter who had an amazing understanding of exactly what he needed.

Pete immediately bonded with his new dad, his new human sister, and his mom-he lays at her feet daily while she works from home.  He has bonded with them all and knows that he is safe and home.  So thankful for adopters and fosters who see a traumatized dog not as broken, but in need.  Pete’s new mom says, “After being dogless for two years following the loss of our 17-year-old rescue, we decided it was time for a new family member.

Pete is a cuddler and is still a rambunctious,  overgrown puppy who follows us everywhere. Since I work remotely, in between walks around the neighborhood, Pete cuddles up to my feet and takes his naps. He has already starred in several Zoom meetings. Pete’s original name at the shelter was “Sneaky Pete” and he lives up to his name! He will grab whatever he can whenever he can and run off with his treasure. Thanks to Beth, his adoption coordinator and to Pete’s foster parents the Dooley’s, Maggie, and Natalie for looking after Pete until he found his forever home.”
