Topper
Topper arrived at Adopt a Golden Birmingham from a high kill shelter, and was, in fact, scheduled to be euthanized the next day. AGB has a great track record with getting these gorgeous Flat-Coat Retrievers adopted and Topper was no exception. His new mom, who had adopted from AGB previously, saw him and immediately knew he was supposed to be hers. She traveled all the way from West Virginia with her other dog TeddyRose. They met Topper and pretty much knew immediately he had found his new home. She has quite a story she wants to share.
“When our beloved Lettie, our first flat-coated retriever mix AGB adoptee crossed the Rainbow Bridge after 9 wonderful years, I knew I would be traveling to Alabama to find a brother or sister for my 1-year old standard Parti-Poodle TeddyRose. AGB is the best at finding the right dog for the right family! By the grace of God, a parking lot rescue, Topper, quickly became available. We hear he was saved one day before he was to be euthanized at a shelter; a true blessing.
Topper, in the last month, has quickly become a treasured member of our family. TeddyRose and I love this super-affectionate, 50-plus pound lap dog! What can I say about awesome Topper? He’s an enthusiastic lover of all 2 and 4-legged creatures (a little too enthusiastic sometimes). A constantly happy dog who loves life, Topper’s tail doesn’t just wag, his entire body does!
Topper is fun-loving and smart. He is full of positive energy and mischief as any 10-month-old puppy should be.
He has had a life full of adventure as part of our family so far! He’s aced car rides (long and short). Topper easily adjusted to wearing coats and sweaters in cold West Virginia, knowing that when dog clothes and leashes come out, he’s headed for our daily neighborhood walk or hike in the woods, which he enjoys!
From ‘death row’ to AGB. From respiratory illness and malnutrition, to vibrant health. I think Topper hit the jackpot when he made his way to your adoption agency! There are no words to express my deep gratitude for all that AGB does, and the open willingness to adopt to an out-of-state-family. Thank you!”
