Bentley/Ben-Ben

May 1, 2021 – Bentley (front and center) came to AGB when his family reluctantly made the decision to surrender him after he escaped their yard and had a close encounter with a small dog. Bentley went to foster with longtime AGB volunteers. It took some time adjusting to sharing, especially his toys. He loved the cats and fixated on them as if they were his children. Bentley soon learned that having 3 AGB alums as big brothers wasn’t such a bad thing as long as they stayed away from his toys. Although AGB looked for the right adopter, due to Bentley’s age, need for a fenced yard, and dislike for little dogs, the right home didn’t come along. His foster parents felt that Bentley had already found his forever home and probably would have a hard time adjusting to another life yet again. His new parents and siblings are thrilled. Way to go Bentley!

Original Adoption Post

Like the vintage luxury vehicle, I am named Bentley. As you might imagine, I like my plush comforts like a warm spot on the sofa with a pillow to lay my head on. The word that best describes me is “sweet”. I’m a 9 year old fellow and at my former home I escaped my backyard and wandered on some other dog’s territory and a scuffle ensued. Gosh, it was just a harmless jaunt. My owners called AGB and very reluctantly surrendered me because they did not want me to escape again and be in a bad situation. Because of this, and because I LOVE to chase balls, a privacy fence would be best for me. I am overall healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and heart worm negative. I weigh 90 pounds. I love people and I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes. I’m curious about the cats in my foster home, and I like most big dogs, but little dogs test my patience so a home without them is best. Maybe having me as an only dog, all to yourself, would work just fine! I’m hoping there are folks out there who can’t wait to spend time with a mature Golden gentleman like me who loves life, the occasional (supervised) jaunt, and all the little luxuries of home. I hope you’ll ask about me, Bentley.
