Dixie

October 14, 2023 – Dixie came to Adopt A Golden as an owner surrender from a breeder.  She had just had a litter of pups but was having a hard time getting along with her mates.  She checked every box that her new mom and dad were looking for in a rescue so Dixie (now Maybelle Marjoribanks, Duchesse of Argyle  AKA Mae Mae) is home forever.

Her new mom says: “We lost our best friend and beloved Tucker (an 8-year-old British Cream) on June 25 suddenly and without any symptoms.  The grief was overwhelming for our entire family.  After years of serving the Humane Society in various capacities, the decision to focus on a more breed-specific rescue was made to honor Tucker and the breed he so valiantly represented.  That is how we came to volunteer for AGB.  In doing so, we were led to look for a golden whom we could share our lives with.

While the time since Tucker’s passing has been short, our family decided that we weren’t complete without a companion golden in our lives.  We wanted a young female golden who was retiring from being a breeder dog.  She came our way, exactly as we had dreamed, on Labor Day weekend of this year.  Dixie (Mae Mae) is so beautiful, timid, scared, and was perhaps temporarily broken…needing a loving, kind, and patient family who also needed her.  Our hearts are healing having Mae Mae in our home, and we believe Tucker would have approved as well.”
