Doug

March 8, 2021 – Sweet Doug has been adopted by his foster family, Jay and Shannon. Shannon is AGB’s Foster Manager and helps place AGB dogs with our wonderful foster home volunteers until they find their permanent homes. Jay and Shannon have fostered about 20 dogs over the past 4 years and Doug, like many past fosters, planted himself in their laps on day one, flashed his adoring golden eyes and said he’s not leaving. These experienced fosters weren’t falling for that! No way, Doug, this is just a temporary home til you find your forever home! Well, flash forward a week: they agreed with Doug’s plan and said we can’t let him go! He is no escape artist with them – he doesn’t want to leave their sides. No one can resist giving him scratches and love. They are excited to introduce Doug to the lake and more experiences as his confidence grows and restrictions lift. Doug has a great future in front of him.

Original Adoption Post

“I’m the type of guy that likes to roam around..cause I’m a wanderer, yeah, a wanderer” Remember that song? That’s kind of my theme song at the moment. Hello there, I’m Doug, golden red haired rascal and charmer extraordinaire! I’m two years old so I’m all about having fun and adventures. Sometimes the adventures and people and attention lie outside of the fence, don’t they? I’m sure, with a little help that I’ll learn that there’s no place like home especially when I have people loving on me and a cozy place to sleep in the house. AGB came and got me out of the animal shelter and they found out I was heart worm positive so I need to go through that treatment. I also need to be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. That’s not much fun to look forward to but I hear that I’m about to win the forever home lottery because AGB already has lots of adoption applications from folks looking for a fine fellow like me. That’s pretty exciting! I have a sweet disposition and, other than the heart worms and initial vetting, I am in good physical condition. I weigh 45 pounds. I am very friendly and, if I really like you, I just might sit in your lap. So my future looks bright and I’m betting within the next month or two, I will be thinking ‘there’s no place like home’ and I’ll go no more aroaming! Would you possibly help me pay for my heart worm treatment?
