Mom and two daughters with golden retriever

Jan/Betsy

January 21, 2020 – Shy little Jan, now Betsy, claimed her new family by going straight to them without any hesitation. She laid her head on them as if to say “you’re mine now.” The perfect match became even sweeter when one of the girls realized that they were taking her home on the 17th birthday of their beloved dog who recently crossed the rainbow bridge. Betsy’s mom reports that she is so sweet and is doing well. She wonders if Betsy will ever have personal space again. We could not be happier for this family and their new little angel!

Original Adoption Post

Happy days, I am the first AGB orphan of 2020! A lot has happened to me just in the first week of January. Maybe why that’s why they named me Jan – a nickname for January. I got picked up as a stray and taken to a northern Alabama shelter. And, even though I am an adorable, cute little girl around 1 year old, nobody came to claim me and take me back home! Can you imagine? Hurt my feelings! But some nice man from AGB came and took me out of the shelter and drove me to Birmingham. Everybody says I am very, very sweet and friendly. I’m so interested in looking at people, it was hard to take my photo. I am also interested in other pups as well. I rode quietly in the car and sure enjoyed the treats I was given. I’ve had my medical check-up and I’m going to be spayed shortly. I am heart worm negative, vaccinated, and I’ll be microchipped as well. I weigh 51 pounds and have a lovely golden coat. AGB says they’re going to find me a home where I’ll have lots of attention, love, training, and treats. They also say everybody is going to want to take me with them now but they’ll find the perfect family for me. This Alabama girl is going to have a wonderful 2020 and a wonderful life; I just know it!
