Kate

This sweet dog came to us from a breeder who was closing their kennel. She arrived as a skittish and unsure girl, scared of just about everything and everyone. She would not leave her crate for long and always ran back in it.  Luckily, Adopt a Golden Birmingham was able to get her into our rescue and find her a great foster home. As often happens, the foster fell in love with her despite the challenges that Kate (now Cate) had in the home. The foster persevered and, with patience and lots of love, she has helped Cate learn to be a real dog.

Her new mom writes, “Cate has come so far in the past year we have been together! She started out very nervous and spent most of her time in her crate or in a corner of a room. She didn’t show much enjoyment in anything, but after a while, I started to see little glimpses of her personality. She started gathering her toys up and bringing them into her crate. Then she started spending more time out of her crate. Now we don’t even have the crate out. She spends her time in her bed or on the couch, napping the day away. She enjoys dog park days and is learning to become a little adventure pup! Her kitty sisters coexist with her well, and one loves to take any bites of food she leaves in her bowl or milkbones she doesn’t finish. Her grandparents love to spoil he,r and she can get just about anything she wants with her sweet little look (including being hand fed steak and cheese)! She is so worthy of love and all the good things life has to offer!”
