Maggie

Maggie is now Winnie, and her new mom had the words about her adoption. After the unexpected loss of our beloved AGB Golden, Amour, our hearts were broken. In the midst of our grief, Winnie came into our lives with the gentleness and love we needed, helping our hearts begin to heal. We can’t help but feel that somehow, our sweet Amour had a paw in sending Winnie our way.

Formerly Maggie, 6½-year-old Winnie is loving, gentle, kind, and exactly what our hearts needed. From the moment she came into our lives, it felt like she belonged.

For us, an older dog is the perfect match. There is something incredibly special about giving an older dog the love, comfort, security, and joy they deserve for the best years ahead. If we could adopt every older Golden waiting for a home, we would! They deserve nothing less than the very best for the rest of their lives.

Winnie came to AGB as an owner surrender, and we made a promise to her the moment she became ours: from here forward, her days will be filled with love, security, adventure, and the comfort of knowing she is home for good. We may not have been there for the first 6½ years of her story, but we feel incredibly lucky to be the ones who get to love her through all the wonderful years still ahead.

She’s already enjoying multiple walks a day, car rides with us, and plenty of time exploring and relaxing in our big backyard. Our neighborhood is filled with dogs—especially Goldens—so she has definitely found her tribe! And with Alabama football season around the corner, Winnie has some very fun game weekends in her future!

Winnie is our third Adopt a Golden Birmingham rescue, and we truly cannot thank AGB enough for bringing some of the greatest gifts—and greatest loves—of our lives to us.

There may just be a Golden brother or sister in Winnie’s future someday, but for now, we are soaking up every minute with our sweet girl.

Here’s to Winnie’s forever home and the beginning of her best chapter yet. Somehow, at just the right time, Winnie found her way to us—and we feel incredibly fortunate to have found one another.
