Taffy
Taffy came into Adopt a Golden Birmingham as an owner surrender. His previous owner could no longer care for him due to a family illness. We were able to get him to foster pretty quickly and then he was adopted shortly after. What’s not to love about this boy? He truly is the epitome of the Golden Retriever breed-loyal, friendly, loving, smart, and a totally gorgeous boy.
His new mom tells the story of their journey to finding this boy: “We lost our sweet Golden, Lily, at age 13, 2 1/2 years ago. To say it broke our hearts is an understatement. We decided to take the first ‘dog break’ of our nearly 40-year marriage as we grieved and did some international travel. Then in December we decided we were ready for a new Golden member of the family. We applied with Adopt A Golden Birmingham because Carrie’s sister has been one of their adopters and volunteers and we ourselves served as permanent fosters for sweet Luka in 2015.
Throughout the holidays we visited the adoption page often and looked forward to adopting in early 2025. When we saw ‘Taffy’ he seemed like a great possibility, but when we got to see a video of him with his foster mom, it seemed like he was exactly what we needed.
A few days later we met him and took him home. Although wary and nervous at first, he soon realized he was home. He fits right into our lives and he’s already adored by our kids and grandkids. He’s a ‘Velcro pup’ who loves to stay close and receive endless petting – and that’s just fine with us. Thanks AGB, and especially Beth, for helping us find our Tully.”
