Thor
Thor was adopted from Adopt A Golden Birmingham as a puppy. Through no fault of his own, his owner decided to surrender him to us after several years. Luckily, his new family had been looking for a boy just like him. He is home now and so well-loved.
His new dad says it best: ” After saying goodbye to our beloved fur baby of 13 years, our home felt achingly quiet. The routines were the same—walks, mealtimes, quiet evenings on the couch—but everything was missing a heartbeat. We weren’t sure when—or if—we’d be ready to open our hearts again. But love has a way of finding its way back in.
Enter Thor.
A large, golden-orange Labrador Retriever with the gentlest eyes we’d ever seen, Thor came to us through Adopt a Golden Birmingham. From the very start, there was something about him. He didn’t try to demand attention or charm us with tricks. Instead, he walked into our lives with quiet grace, a calm presence, and a soul that seemed to understand where we were.
Thor didn’t replace what we had lost—no dog ever could—but he filled the silence with his steady companionship. He fit into our little family as if he had always been there, easing our grief without even trying. His gentle nature brought a kind of peace we didn’t know we needed.
Whether he’s lying at our feet, offering his warm head for a comforting hand, or just being nearby, Thor is a reminder that love doesn’t end—it simply changes shape. Sometimes, it comes back to you in the form of a big yellow Lab with soft eyes and a heart big enough to hold your broken pieces.
We didn’t rescue Thor. He rescued us. What a blessing he is and will be until the end, right here with us forever. Thor loves treats, car rides, cheer practices, meeting friends and family, blankets, naps, and his people. He’s home forever.”
